Southern Italy, Amalfi Coast, Sicily 2024

The Southern Italy motorcycle tour begins and ends in Rome. Our motorcycle tour will travel south along the beautiful coastline to the Amalfi coast, then inland crossing the Sila area in Calabria, wild and empy and, sometimes, abandoned, following the coastline of the Ionian sea reaching and crossing the Strait of Messina to Sicily by ferry arriving in Taormina, charmimg and fancy, always in holiday, we consider Taormina one of the most beutiful places in Italy, after the visit to the Etna volcano, dominating thei part of the island, we head to Agrigento to visit the Greek temples in a great environment. We will head to through a great road crossing the entire island. On top of the hill of Erice we will enjoy for one night this 2000 years old stony village. We will reach Palermo, Sicily’s main city, where after the visit we will board the ferry for a night cruise to get back to Rome where we will spend our last day of the tour seeing the sights of Rome with a local guide.

The Southern Italy motorcycle tour will take through landscapes and great roads, found almost everywhere in Italy, the highlights of this tour and, on top, the cuisine and the wine, different from one place to the other, will be a very important part of the tour giving the right athmosphere every night in special locations.

Our fleet is composed by different bikes of all ages, some “old new” bikes, old for the age, new for the mileage, like BMW 1200 GS , Honda VFR, Ducati ST4S,  some vintage bikes like Morini 350, Honda 500 Four, BMW R 60/5, some new bikes like BMW 700 GS, you can choose among the list, price is the same for each bike. In case you wish a very new bike like the last model on e market of a BMW or a Ducati we have access to a large fleet but there will be an extra to pay depending on the model.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Sunday – Arrival in Rome
Day of meeting at the hotel in Rome. Welcome dinner follows that evening.

Day 2 – Monday – Rome – Amalfi – km 250
From Rome to Amalfi, stopping in Ercolano to visit one of the most beautiful remaining cities of the Roman Empire. The town was covered by the Vesuvio ash during the big eruption of 79 a.D. Arrival in Amalfi for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Tuesday – Amalfi coast – km 100
An easy day of sightseeing and relaxing along the Amalfi coast, visiting Positano, Sorrento and the beautiful villages of the area.

Day 4 – Wednesday – Amalfi – Maratea – km 280
Following the Gulf of Policastro, the road runs near the coast, climbing up the hills and returning to sea level where you will see places like Agropoli, Palinuro, Marina di Camerota. The beautiful scenery of these locations are known world wide. Arrival in Maratea for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 – Thursday – Maratea – Soverato – km 280
Across Sila, a wonderful Highland up to 2.000 metres in altitude, touching Cosenza and the Tirrenian Sea again before crossing the region and arriving on the Ionian Coast in Soverato for overnight. Twisties all day!

Day 6 – Friday – Soverato – Taormina –  Km 250
Southward through the wonderful inland area of Calabria, mysterious and inhabited, to Villa san Giovanni where we will catch the ferry to cross the Messina Channel, proceeding to Messina and Taormina.

Day 7 – Saturday – Taormina
Relax in Taormina, wonderful magic place facing the Etna volcano and the Mediterranean ocean.

Day 8 – Sunday – Taormina – Agrigento – km 280
Ride through the island of Sicily: wonderful hills and valleys, reaching the sea again at Agrigento, but not before having touched the top of the Etna volcano.

Day 9 – Monday – Agrigento – Erice – km 250
A morning visit to the Valley of Temples, after which we will cross Sicily from south to north, stopping in Segesta for another astonishing visit to this amazing Greek temple.
We will overnight in the Middle Age Village of Erice, where we will also enjoy dinner.

Day 10 – Tuesday – Erice – Palermo and ferry to Rome – km 150
Morning transfer to Palermo where we will park our motorcycles in a safe place and have a city tour of this incredible city after enjoying a leisurely lunch. Back to get our motorcycles in time to board our ferry to Naples with dinner and overnight on board.

Day 11 – Wednesday – Civitavecchia – Rome – km 100 
Morning arrival in Naples, after a breakfast in the crowded Naples we will follow the coast to Rome to finish our tour. Free afternoon to enjoy the Capital of the Ancient World.

Day 12 – Thursday – Rome 
Morning visit with a local guide to the major archaeological sites in Rome, back to our hotel for lunch. Free afternoon for shopping and relaxing.

Day 13 – Friday – Day of departure from Rome
After breakfast, time to spend at your leisure until transfer time to the airport and departure.
