Itinerary and program
26 December 2026 - Chennai – Mahabalipuram / Approx 2 hours
Trasfer from Chennai airport to Mahabalipuram following the beautiful Coromandel Coast, with glimpses of the Bay of Bengal and the tropical landscapes of Tamil Nadu along the way. After approximately 60 kilometres, we arrive in the historic coastal town of Mahabalipuram, our home for the first nights of the journey. The evening is free to relax, settle into the hotel and prepare for the days of riding ahead.
27 December – Mahabalipuram
Today is our introduction to the motorcycles and to riding conditions in southern India. We take time to become familiar with the machines, controls and local traffic before beginning the longer stages of the tour. Mahabalipuram is also an extraordinary place to begin the journey. The town is famous for its magnificent collection of ancient monuments, temples and rock-cut sculptures, including the celebrated Shore Temple and the remarkable monuments of the Pallava dynasty. A relaxed day combining motorcycle familiarisation with an introduction to the rich cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu.
28 December – Mahabalipuram to Pondicherry - 100 km / 3–4 hours
Today we officially begin our motorcycle adventure, heading south along the Coromandel Coast towards Pondicherry. The route combines coastal scenery, villages, palm trees and stretches of open road. After the relative tranquillity of Mahabalipuram, the atmosphere gradually changes as we approach Pondicherry, a fascinating former French colonial settlement. Upon arrival, there will be time to explore the atmospheric streets of the old French Quarter, enjoy a café or simply relax and soak up the distinctive character of this elegant seaside town.
29 December – Pondicherry to Kolli Hills - 235 km / 5–6 hours
Today we leave the coast behind and head inland towards the dramatic landscapes of the Kolli Hills. The route offers some excellent riding as we gradually move away from the plains and towards the hills. The scenery changes continuously, from cultivated countryside and villages to greener and more rugged landscapes. Kolli Hills is a wonderful natural region, known for its forests, winding mountain roads and peaceful atmosphere. After a rewarding day's ride, we settle into the hills surrounded by nature.
30 December – Kolli Hills to Kodaikanal - 260 km / 7–8 hours
After breakfast, we continue south towards one of Tamil Nadu's most famous hill stations: Kodaikanal. Today's route is a full day in the saddle, with changing landscapes and increasingly mountainous terrain. As we climb towards Kodaikanal, the temperature becomes cooler and the vegetation changes dramatically. Located at an altitude of more than 2,000 metres, Kodaikanal offers a refreshing contrast to the tropical lowlands. The mountain roads make this one of the more memorable riding days of the journey.
31 December – Kodaikanal to Valparai & Sholiyar Dam - 175 km / 5 hours
Today promises another superb day of mountain riding as we leave Kodaikanal and head towards Valparai and the Sholiyar Dam region.
